About Us

The Ann Arbor Science & Skeptics is a group consisting of members who have an enthusiasm for science, critical thinking, and humor. We meet twice a month to discuss various scientific or skeptical-themed topics.

One of our monthly get-togethers consists of having a guest expert on-hand to answer our questions and provide explanations on a particular topic. Some of our past guests include Henry Pollack (climate change), Brian Wecht (particle physics & the Large Hadron Collider), Shobita Parthasarathy (Genetic Patents & Home DNA Kits), David Gerdes (dark energy), and Nilton Renno (exploring Mars).  You can find audio recordings of some of our past meet-ups in our Downloads section. The second of our monthly get-togethers is a “Skeptics in the Pub” type social gathering.

The organizers are Chris Lindsay and Janice Loffreda-Wren:

  • Chris Lindsay is an enthusiast of science, skepticism, (American) football, and the music of Rush. He is also the host of the podcast, Critical Wit.
  • Janice Loffreda-Wren is interested in science in general, and molecular genetics in particular. She is also an avid reader, especially science fiction & fantasy.
